Your Duty of Care
Under Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, anyone who produces waste has a legal duty to ensure it is disposed of responsibly — or face unlimited fines.
Full Indemnity
By using an Upper-Tier EA Licensed Carrier like WasteWize, the legal responsibility for the waste is safely transferred from you to us.
Waste Transfer Notes
Every collection is documented with a digital WTN, providing a permanent audit trail of where your waste originated and where it ended up.
The Waste Hierarchy
We legally must prioritise the waste hierarchy: Prevent, Reuse, Recycle, Recover, and — only as a last resort — Dispose.
Why Does This Matter to You?
If your waste is fly-tipped by an unlicensed carrier, you are legally liable and can face unlimited fines or prosecution. Simply "paying someone to take it away" is not enough to satisfy the law.
For Homeowners
"I didn't know they were unlicensed" is not a legal defence. Using WasteWize UK ensures you have the paperwork to prove you acted responsibly.
For Businesses
Commercial entities are required by law to keep Waste Transfer Notes for at least 2 years. Our digital system handles this archiving for you automatically.
Digital Waste Transfer Notes (WTN)
Upon completion of every job, we issue a digital WTN. This document contains:
- Description of the waste (SIC Codes)
- The volume and weight of the materials
- The date, time, and location of collection
- Our Environment Agency Licence Number
- The destination licensed site for material recovery
